After leaving school, Joanna Hogg began her career as an assistant for a stills photographer, before finding an interest in filmmaking, with the support of Derek Jarman. Following directing jobs on television such as London’s Burning, Casualty and an Eastenders special, Hogg made her feature debut with 2008’s Unrelated, which won the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize. She has continued this success with Archipelago (2010), which debuted at the London Film Festival and went on to critical acclaim, and Exhibition (2013). Her latest feature, The Souvenir (2019), has already won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Dramatic World Cinema at Sundance, and is due to be released on May 17th.
